From year to year, the use of Crypto Wallet is increasing. This is evident from the existence of many searches for one of the keywords about how to add Fantom to Metamask on search engines on the internet. What's unique about Metamask is that users can freely add smart contracts from various other networks.

For example, in Metamask itself the default network that is set is Ethereum Mainnet. If you want to enter several other networks, you are required to set the RPC or enter the network first. When they want to enter a site with Web3 technology, generally they use a certain network so they can log into the website dashboard.

For example, when you want to buy and sell NFT on one of the biggest NFT sites, namely opensea.io, there are several network options that are commonly used, namely Ethereum and Polygon. Both networks have their own blockchain explorer to monitor the transaction data that you make. Understanding how to set RPC in Metamask is very important to understand.

What Is Fantom?

As a substitute for Ethereum, Fantom is an open-source, decentralized smart contract platform for digital assets and dApps. According to Coinmarketcap, Fantom aims to overcome the limitations of previous generations of blockchains and balance the three components of scalability, security and decentralization. The project offers a suite of tools to simplify the integration process of existing DApps, along with a detailed reward system and also built-in DeFi instruments. Fantom has its own crypto token called FTM Coin.

The Fantom Foundation is the party that oversees the FTM Coin Initial Coin Offering (ICO). Fantom was originally created in 2018, but launched alongside Fantom mainnet, OPERA, in December 2019. Opera is the application development layer or deployment platform of Fantom mainnet, an open source, permissionless hosting DApps. Thanks to EVM integration and support for the Solidity programming language, Fantom has complete smart contract capabilities. This allows users to interact seamlessly with the Ethereum platform while retaining the efficiency gains of Fantom transactions.

Fantom transactions are validated by Lachesis, a leaderless Proof of Stake (POS) system that uses an asynchronous byzantine fault-tolerant (ABFT) mechanism. ABFT validation is much faster and cheaper than validation with conventional Proof of Work or Proof of Stake consensus. The ABFT system is also capable of completing transactions even in seconds.

Each Fantom-based dApp will run on their own blockchain network. This blockchain has its own dedicated token, economy, and governance rules. They benefit from the Lachesis consensus mechanism, and can also interact with dApps running on different Fantom blockchain networks. This is the reason why Fantom is a platform which is also known as a network of networks.

The Team Behind Fantom

The Fantom Foundation was founded by South Korean computer scientist Ahn Byung Ik. Currently, the CEO of the platform is Michael Kong. The Fantom team has vast experience, notably in full-stack blockchain development, and aims to create a smart contract platform that prioritizes scalability, decentralization, and security.

According to the official website, the Fantom team also consists of specialist engineers, scientists, researchers, designers and entrepreneurs. Employees are located all over the world, true to the distributed platform ethos.

Defi System From Fantom

Decentralized finance (DeFi) is a blockchain-based application that works with smart contracts for financial transactions without the need for intermediaries. Fantom is one such platform. The DeFi system from Fantom has three main components, namely:

1.     fMint, which allows you to mint fUSD, a stablecoin pegged at 1:1 to the US dollar (USD). The fUSD coin itself can be exchanged freely with FTM.

2.     fSwap, a decentralized exchange (DEX) that supports the conversion of more than 175 synthetic tokens, including fBTC and fETH.

3.     fLend, which allows you to earn interest by lending FTM and fUSD to liquidity pools. You can also use fUSD funds as collateral to buy and trade synthetic tokens.

Apart from that, Fantom also provides specially designed wallets to store FTM, fUSD, and synthetic tokens. In other words, DeFi transactions from Fantom can be made directly from within the wallet.
